Which type of two factor authentication is the most effective?

    Two Factor Authentication is very useful if you want to provide your accounts with more security. The idea is that you need two pieces of information to log into your account so in the case that someone obtains your password, they will still not be able to access your account.

    Here are a few types of two factor authentication:
    • A secondary password, pin or pattern
    • An email confirmation code
    • A phone confirmation code


    Some websites use two factor authentication whenever you log in if you enabled it, while others have it when you log in with a new device. My question is which type of two factor authentication is the most effective?

    Personally, I think phone confirmation code is the most effective because the code changes all the time and it is harder for hackers to get access to your phone or phone network.

    I can't say which is the most effective but I personally love the phone verification on top of my regular password. Even Steam has this now. If you login to steam you'll do that with your regular username and password, but if you're trying to trade an item with someone, you'll need to verify this trade with your phone. At least to get the item instantly. I believe you can still do these trades without phone verification but it'll take 7 days for the trade to be completed and during that time, you can cancel the trade whenever you want.. So yeah. Phone verification is awesome and we see this more and more often too.

    I like the phone verification because I always have my phone right next to me at all times, plus it won't be easy for anyone to get hold of my phone. If someone steals my laptop and tries to log in somewhere they have access to my emails!

    Oh and I forgot to say some of my logins are saved on my laptop, so if my laptop is stolen and they can access my laptop they will have direct access to some websites and of course my email.

    Yah I very much aware about my all account for security concern. And it is very much need to secure your account from hacker or scammer. Especially when you are a freelancer, you may need to register some very essential website or network. And you may know each network provide different category of security and some are provide just 1 step security and some are 2 step with secondary password and some with phone verification and email redirect code too. I never care what is step and how much step. i always try to make secure 100% with very complex password. Yes I like to make security my account by Phone verification as like Gmail second step system.

    Two factor authentication is very important for additional security and nowadays it is being used much more as people seem to be becoming increasingly aware of their security, which is a good thing. Pins and patterns are not that effective in my opinion, and neither are email confirmation codes. I noticed that more are opting for phone verification codes, which makes sense as it is much more secure. Where applicable having a device which is needed to log in, and which requires a secret code is also very effective. Biometrics are also getting more popular, such as fingerprints, eye iris and voice recognition.
