iPhone or Android for a work phone?

I've been talking to some friends about which phone is better to run a business from, and every body has a phone you know and some have a work phone separate from their social phones. So for those of us that us that have work phones, what phone do you think has more tools equipped for helping to run a business?

I know apple has face time and stuff like that, possibly good for face to face customer contact if you need that sort of thing. But Apple is very proprietary and you have to use the apps they tell you.

With Android, you have access to a wider assortment of work related tools like Google apps, Gmail, all integrated into the Android phone. It's just standard that you get access to everything Google with Android.

So i just wanted to get a few opinions and recommendations on what phone is more useful for running your business.

I have an Android based phone, just some little cheap thing from the Walmart. I have not invested into a proper Android or iPhone yet for work. My little $20 phone saved my bacon earlier in the year when my internet went out for a week and stupid Cox Cable people in the local area kept messing me around on my appointment to get it fixed. For that week, I was waking up at five AM and trapsing to the local library or McDonalds with my laptop to get the free wifi just so I could keep working. I could not stay there all day and night obviously and would miss important stuff after five or six PM. The Android phone let me do a lot of my responding work in between my trips and I could answer people's questions as needed. I used the Zendesk app. Since then, I have relied upon that app a lot and it's really useful. The only thing I don't like about Android is how it won't load some key features of our panel, and you have to find little work arounds. Hard to explain. Anyway, I don't know if iPhone would load it any better, but i'd be happy to get one if it does. Over all, I like the Android, like you said it's got integrated Google products going on and who doesn't use Gmail and Youtube? iPhone seems to be a more prestigious brand, not sure if better though. And, would love to talk to anyone using one for business or work reasons. Just for me, Android is a nice work horse, will keep mine for awhile and likely just upgrade to one better for work.

yea i can completely agree with you if it is one thing about androids it is that androids definitely have that advantage of being less difficult to work with and i know that for even some of the older models compared to iphones older models the android did have its advantages, and your absolutely right who does use gmail and youtube although i believe that iphones can get these features do it does default with android which gives a little advantage if i do say so myself. it can be a little tough do decide thanks for your thoughts appreciate it.

I would have to say android. I currently have an Apple Ipod that I use for music and just using that changed my opinion about apple products. With android it's open source, you can easily go through your phone files on a computer but with apple everything is locked you can't do anything without iTunes. But apple is more secure, but you can't do anything with your device other than what's on it. Android phones also have more memory because with apple, there device software takes up 5 GB. So if you got a 16 GB Apple I Phone, you would only be able to use 11 GB. Apple I tunes also requires a lot of settings changed or it will completely wipe your phone and everything would be on your computer which is a hassle.
Overall, android phones would be best because of how easy they are to get into from a computer and how much better they are, functionallity, screensize, visual apperance.
Even though I have an apple now, I love andriod.

wow, i like that a lot. "open source" i do not think i ever heard that kind of terminology , good choice of words. i feel like you are on too something see i have noticed the same things that you have android is more open and free of restrictions as to iphones which got all the extra works that can make certain things your trying to get done a pain. not too mention even if an android is giving you trouble there can always be a way found to get around certain things androids are more flexible should i say

I prefer to use a pay as you go phone from tracphone for each of my websites. I can get a crappy $20 phone and add $15 worth of minutes to it that last 3 months. If the website goes down the drain, I didn't invest into an expensive phone that I won't use because I already have a personal phone.

Why I use a tracphone:

The Price: I don't remember exactly how much I paid, so I'll give estimates. I paid around $40 for 4 tracphones because they were on sale. I didn't set them all up at once, I only set them up as I had websites launched. I still have 2 phones that are inactive and I can activate whenever I want. So the 2 phones that I did activate only cost an additional $30 ($15 per phone). I paid the $15 for 200 minutes and 3 months of service. Now this doesn't seem like much, but the main reason I got these phones is because the minutes were tippled. So I pay for 200 minutes and I get 600 Not many people call or text because they just email me, but it's nice to have a number on the website for people to get a hold of me if they need to.
Mobility: I have these 2 business cell phones so I can take them with me when I leave the house just in case someone calls me. I can always be there to answer any questions a client may have.

These 4 phones I bought do not have android, but I wish they did. I do have one tracphone with an android system and I love it

I bought this one for a bit more, around $50 for the phone, and I use it for my second LinkedIn account

I would definitely use anything android on my phones for anything business related. I don't even like Google, but I use Android

tracphone huh ? i do not think i expected to hear that but if i am not mistaken tracphone is just a carrier not exactly a phone brand, but i am not trying to discourage you in no way shape or form i see you took the time to say that you would use android and from what i got out of your reply i can see that android is probably the most pocket friendly as in you do not have to break your bank or your wallet in order to get an android phone and that can be a big help in some cases.

i have one only gadget for my daily uses,, iam more prefer os android systems ,,its more easier for us youth to modify that phones,
and i wish i could get that phone ios (iphone) for my 2nd phone ,, i suggest for business uses more prefer iphone
than android phone,, because the back case of that apple are to suave and elegant looks,, given my thought
how about your opinion?

well i mean you know it is not always about looks, like you mentioned up in your comment how android is an easier phone too modify and i feel that could be useful too many extents its like apple does not really offer too much freedom in customizing your phone and off market apps on apple ha ha forget about it apple wont allow you too install nearly half the stuff you can install using an android phone, the android phones are more open to off market installs an other types of modifications . i appreciate your comment thank you

I have a Sony XPERIA, Android. I don't like iPhones at all. Don't really know why but I just don't like them. At all. Even though most of my friends are using them.. I would never. Yuck! The phone I'm using is my private phone, but I still use it in my business whenever I need to. I don't have to necessarily keep business and private phones separate from each other. I don't run that type of business so 1 phone for my entire business and personal life is more than enough for me.

While we're at it. How about your phone bills? I pay 195 SEK per month, that's about: $22,88.. And for that, I can call as many times I want, for how long I want, to whoever I want. It doesn't cost me more than that.

I am not a fan of iPhones. I had one but never bought another since then since I find Android phones to be better from various points of view. They are cheaper and do not have all those limitations that Apple imposes. There are several apps you can choose from and so it is ideal for business use. I think it would me more important to focus on the price one gets to pay for calls etc, rather than just on the type of phone one uses.

you know what elite writer your absolutely right, i have seen a lot of people take side on what the opinion you have shared, and i believe it is true , the honesty around androids is that they are most definitely the cheaper more pocket friendly brand of phone and on top of all that there really is not any type of restrictions android does really give you a full range of control over your phone and i believe in most cases especially in the business aspect that this is beneficial to the owner of the being that he has more options and tools too use

I would most definitely use an Apple iPhone due to me having more experience with this product than any other product. Also, you can download many apps, and the iPhone has features that other mobile phones don't. However, the major downfall is that the Apple iPhone costs a lot. It can cost up to $800 to buy the latest version, and that price is ridiculous! But if I really needed an additional mobile phone for work related purposes than I would buy the Apple iPhone.

wow man i really appreciate your comment everett, you do bring up some pretty valid points also , i understand you said that iphones have exclusive features, i believe that your a hundred percent correct on that cause i know personally even with androids wide range of features and customization that iphones doe have exclusive features and apps that you only get on apple , i believe if i am not mistaken that apps run on iphone tend to run better over all as android has been known to crash . apple phones tend to have there advantages i appreciate your comment

I prefer to use Android as there are plenty of users and an excellent community. I like the customization offer by Android phones. Besides that, I do not need to fork out so much for an iPhone.

To be honest, I envy those who own an iPhone because I know that the iPhone with its iOs operating system is fast and the graphics are great. But for a business phone perhaps the Android would be better. Aside from the affordable price the Android phone has the luxury of more apps for downloading. Although there is now the risk of being contaminated by a virus, I would still stick to my android phone.
