I'm going to assume that everyone here has heard of Instagram. If you haven't, you've probably been living in a cave or under a rock lol.

Here are 7 tips to grow and maintain your Instagram Followers

Make your images eye catching. You need to make them stand out in the crowd and to do that you need to study your niche and see what everyone else is doing, and then avoid it lol. Go against the grain on this one to bring attention to your images, it usually works out pretty well.
Study the current Instagram trends, yeah there are trends. You can focus on the global type trends or just the ones in your niche. It really depends on who you're targeting though.
Post content your audience wants, duh! I didn't want to mention this, but I assume there will be someone out there who would have said "Well Razzy didn't say that my posts had to be niche specific!"
Post regularly and at peak hours of the day. All websites have a similar traffic pattern due to people either being asleep or at work. Mornings usually don't have as much traffic as lunch time or after 5pm. This is because in the morning people don't want to be on instagram while driving to work. And they usually don't browse until they're on their lunch break.
Tell stories with your images. You can even use the text box under the image to elaborate on the story in order to draw more people in
Get out there an explore, kind of. Use the explore feature, use the geo locator feature, use plenty of hashtags and even tag people in your posts to bring them in.
Don't forget about instagram analytics. Knowing what's working and why is the best thing for your profile. Posting randomly and hoping that everything will work out isn't as good as knowing what will definitely work and posting it a few times a day

Yes, Razzy, let's add point number 8 - Be really really hot, girls are preferred, also try showing as much skin as humanly possible without falling into the adult niche.

I'm just saying, hot girls seem to have really huge success on Instagram, in fact, I bet they're making the majority of "serious profit" on Instagram. I mean, sure, some people may be worth following, but as far as I can see, everyone is just looking at hot chicks over there, including women who are looking for fashion reasons.

I'm sure mommies have a clear defined niche on Instagram. But mommies showing a little more, on the other hand, have an even wider audience. Lol.

Oh great, thanks Razzy you read my mind... or maybe not, maybe you have just read some of my posts here? I have just started with Instagram so any and all tips that are around I am seriously taking in.

I didn't even know about Instagram analytics! But I guess it makes sense, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube all have analytics too right? I will have to figure out where to access that now, I am itching to have a look.

That is interesting what you say about the busy times. I have found very often that mornings can be really busy in my niche and I think it may be because a lot of my audience are stay at home moms

I have seen distinctive patterns of activity in my mommy blog niche which is really cool. Early morning is busy, like 5am or 6am... it sounds crazy but really most moms, especially those with very young babies are awake and feeding their babies at that time already. They seem to be on their phones while doing this task! Then between 5pm and about 8pm everything goes dead while moms are cooking supper, bathing their kids and putting them to bed. Suddenly at 8pm they are all awake and ready to be online LOL.

Some good tips there. I like 'Tell stories with your images' especially, because Instagram is after all all about images. Those images need to strike viewers and make them interested in whatever you are communicating. Writing a message is simpler than delivering it through a picture, but the effect and amount of memorability a picture can have is enormous. Using Instagram well is a sure way of using a good marketing tool nowadays.

For sure, that nice and catchy images will get you the followers. One friend said that you don’t need to be fancy in Instagram because it is just a social network and that you don’t need many followers. But come to think of it, having too many followers can give you a way to earn from your posts so why not be fancy with the images? And of course, you can observe what your followers want in the way they react to your posts. So if they want wacky images then post all your wacky pictures.
