So you have the best video in the world and you want more views, likes, clicks and sales... right? Well you should know that by just posting your video to YouTube that you probably won't get it to go viral with hopes and dreams. You'll need to hit the ground running and market the hell out of it while doing a few tips and tricks that I will go over
Did you know that the average attention span of a goldfish is around 9 seconds? Well the average attention span of a human being is roughly 8 seconds. And you don't have to be a math genius to figure out that we have a shorter attention spans than goldfish lol.
The average time of a video on YouTube, and other platforms, is around 3 minutes. But don't worry, people will stay for the entire 3 minutes if you can make the video engaging enough
Let's get to it!
5 ways to increase engagement on your YouTube videos
- Focus on your mobile viewers - People now a days are watching more videos on their smartphones than on a desktop or tablet. This is due to easy access to a phone and the many apps out there that allow quick viewing. So focus on these people and you'll get more popularity over time compared to if you focused on desktop viewers.
- Post at the right times to increase views, likes and shares - Smartphones, computers and tablets all are showing peak times around noon to 5pm. So if you share your video around noon you will have the best chance of getting in while it's good. You can test this out if you'd like, but you should just trust me so you don't have to do tons of split testing lol.
- Design your videos based on users passions and interests - If you post videos of the following topics you will have a better chance of gaining followers, likes and shares. Inspiration and Entertainment, Learning, "How To" videos, Instructional, Deciding what to buy.
- Use your emails to increase traffic - If you simply use the word "Video" within the title of your email you will notice more people opening it. People would rather watch a video than read a long message from a random person.
- Collaborate with your viewers to help build a community around your channel - Around 80% of YouTubes viewers live outside of the United States and 60% of the views to a video are from outside of the creators country. Be sure to have an outside website up and running which you can link to in the description. Not many of your viewers will click through to it, but the ones that do can be turned into paying customers

The truth is you find a lot of outdated information on the web and it's a bit tricky to filter all of them to see which one is worth it and brings results.
I would say to add a complete and smart description of your video. It will look more professional and you can easily blend some keywords within. I am a rookie as well in Youtube marketing and I really can't say that I've done too many videos. Actually i think i have done only 2-3 but they didn't had any success because i had no clue how to address them to the public. But it's a subject that recently caught my eyes again and i start doing some research to get more familiarized.
