    4. Keep it real and on topic

    After spending couple of days on a forum, you get to know the people, you get familiarized with the subjects, know what threads are of more interest, know where to post in order to have replies and so on. In order to have posts accepted, maintain the discussion flow. Do not post about computers on a post about cats because it's rude and it will attract the "rage" of the other users. You may get your account suspended and therefore, no more money.

    Be sharp and stay focused. A well written on topic reply will attract users in discussion and will make your life easier. You will be able to continue the discussion without effort and you will get paid faster.

    Try to keep the posts formal, don't engage in conflicts with other users in public. If you have some debate, just do it in private. Being to creepy will get you banned.
    In this business, time and speed means everything so you don't want to start over just for some silly argument.

    5. Time is of essence in this job.

    Some of my employers hired me to add topics in a brand new forum. This is the most boring job to do because there is no one to engage with you in conversation but it has to be done. In this situation you can do two things:
    • you can wait for users to come and hope for replies but this can take a while and it's not quite productive.
    • you can talk with the owner and create fake accounts. With these you can reply yourself and get the topics going and so called new users engaged. More posts, more money in a shorter time, right?


    6. Another tip that get me through was being polite

    This tip can make forum posting really productive for you. From time to time, remind the employer, owner or administrator of a forum that you are thankful to be there and that you have the opportunity to be helpful to others. You have no idea how much appreciation this will bring towards you. This combined with a quality job is the perfect recipe in getting more orders.

    Be sure that all your posts meet up their quality criteria and i can guarantee that orders for your service will continue to come
    Administrators tend to work with the same people that passed their "quality scan" rather than scanning someone every time they need a job of sort.

    Summary of paid forum posting:
    • Read the guidelines.
    • Be sure that everything matches your expectation.
    • Be sure that you can handle the topics and forum's niche
    • Be sure that the time you spend on a gig worth the money
    • Be polite. Politeness can bring you extra orders

    Forum Posting is not paid a lot bit if you do it at a larger scale it will add a nice sum to your income. Don't skip it.

    Great tips here RaduV, I love what you say about not engaging with conflict. I have seen some awful things going on where people get into such fights and things get really ugly.

    From what I have seen before some people seem to only be on a forum for the excitement and conflict, for trolling. I really have a huge distaste for this.

    Flaming threads are a thing nowadays. It gets you (as a forum owner) a lot of replies and fresh content which everybody knows, is welcomed on a new forum. It's quite hard to get people to debate but if you push the right buttons you can obtain really nice results..

    Whenever someone needs flaming content on their forums just post something like "iPhone Vs Samsung" or "iOS vs Android" or "Windows vs Linux" and you will get the most populated threads on your forums. Geeks can write a tremendous amount of posts about this kind of threads.

    I liked all your points, but the second point was very relevant to me for a lot of reasons. As a long time forum administrator, I was always seeing these new people come in and post very fast just to earn that signature link. And, once they had it, they would just pop that signature link in with the spam link and leave, never to be seen again. Or, engage in some kind of other spammy behavior. And, it's just so easy to spot a spammer from space really. And, the reason why is because either 1) that member is a bot/software and has no human finesse about posting or 2) the member is a real person who is posting just for the purpose of that backlink. Not that there is anything wrong with having a signature link, but if you don't take time to cultivate the community, to become trusted by people (by providing genuine/caring advice that benefits the other person asking the question or community at large), then you are doing both yourself and the forum you are posting at a huge disservice. I built numerous successful forum accounts on some of the biggest internet marketing forums keeping this one thing in mind and never had a signature line deleted as a result. My point being, it's helpful to look at your job as a forum poster from the point of view of the admin or moderator of the forum you are visiting. Is what you have to say relevant to them? Are you helping that person out? In cases where you are building an account on behalf of your client (the person who will be adding the signature link later), your client is that person, not the forum owner. So at that point, it's you/client versus the forum owner/admin. And, you have to walk on egg shells not to offend those people. If you were hired by the forum owner/admin or staff, then you also have an obligation to add real value to the forum so their future members benefit from the information you post. By keeping all this in mind, you can actually charge more per post than another person who's basic response is, "wow! That is really cool! I never thought about it from that point of view. I will have to keep that in mind" or basically what amounts to a padded 'thank you' post.

    I never worked as a forum administrator nor moderator but I have heard that is not the most likeable job. Having to read and deal with all the users is not my cup of tea. I know that, usually, I don't broke the rules that bad so I don't need someone to supervise me.
    Most of my posts were related to the administrator / owner specifications and forum's niche so I tend to believe that somehow they were helpful. Like I said I was paid only if my threads and posts were not on the General / Lobby section.

    If the forums were brand new and the owner only hired me, well I was supposed to create every topic in that forum. So multiple accounts were a must! That was the hardest part I found about forum posting when you needed to have more than one account and at one point you needed to have a conversation with yourself. Sure, it may sound easy for most of you, but believe me replying to your own posts is difficult and very boring.

    I simply didn't have that much inspiration to keep a conversation going for more than a couple of replies.
    The real reward was when real people started to come in and form a real community, nobody knew you gave birth to that place, pretty cool actually.

    I've had a lot of gigs which involved creating multiple accounts and post content from them. That was not my biggest issues but having to reply to my threads that was taking the fun out of the job. Is not that I didn't had enough imagination to answer but I felt like nobody wanted to engage in the subject which most of the time was quite interesting.

    It was a pleasure when I have real replies indeed, then you can play with all the accounts and make unlimited posts.

    You cannot go wrong with being polite. That’s one trait that I look for in the posts on the boards of a forum. When you want an elaboration, you can reply with a polite sentence about it. One reply I got was “source?” and I really felt insulted. That rude remarked made me take note of the user’s profile name and that I will never interact with him again. Let’s treat forums as a social place where people can exchange information and ideas and learn from one another. It is not a venue for ranting and picking up fights.

    Thanks for the reminder. I first tried forum posting about 9 months ago and i've been doing it until now. Forum posting is a great way to spend my spare time and as you mentioned it has also some benefits. But before you go on posting be sure that you like the topic or the forum niche, because there's no sense posting if you're in the wrong niche.
