If someone refers a client/work to you. Do you pay them a percentage for it?

It's common online to help each other out. Just like we do in this Community Discussion. We ask questions and people answer them. - This is how it usually works out, literally anywhere online.

However, if someone on social media for instance, would ask me where they could get superb SEO services, I would obviously direct them to SEOClerks.

That being said, if anyone refers their own clients to you, or your services, outside of SEOClerks. - Would you give them a percentage for doing so?

- I personally believe that 10-20% is fair, as I wouldn't have got that client without the person who refers them. What do you think and have you done anything similar to this?

Yes I think that is fair, although I do recommend a lot of businesses to people all the time and I don't ever expect a cut of the sale for it

It is up to each business to decide whether they want to give a percentage for referrals. From what I understand it is quite easy to set up a referral system on your website using plugins.

If this is how you want to work it then wouldn't the best way be to set up an affiliate system for your company and then it all gets tracked by the plugin?

An affiliate system would be great for something like that, if it was "long-term" so to speak, or something "everyone" could do. I'm talking more about if a friend or someone else would refer a client to you, for a "one-time" deal or so. I wasn't that detailed in my topic though.

Let's say that you're in need of my services, but Mike is the one who tells me about it. Mike tells you, to ask me for help and he also tells me that he has been talking to you about this. - In such scenario, then I would pay Mike a percentage most of the times.

Yes I think that there is some value to what you said as the sale was made thanks to that recommendation. However it may not be feasible for every seller to offer a commission. It all depends on the value of the sale, how busy or not that seller is, and if this is going to be a regular custom or just a one off order. I guess it all depends on these factors, as well as on other things which are up to the discretion of the seller mainly.

The common denominator seems to be around 20%, which is entirely fine with me as long as it's fine to person who referred their client to me. 20% commission doesn't seem like that much of a fee, I mean we all should be use to it by now especially if you sell services on this marketplace. Once a buyer buys a service from you, the service automatically cuts 20% from the order total, which goes directly to the site.

However, if you were to refer your own clients here, I believe you're suppose to get 100% of the order price. I did notice that instead of getting 100% of the total order price, I'm actually get 10% of the order price. Which seems wrong, but I'm unsure wether to report this or not, as it really doesn't seem like much but it could be a big problem down the road.

This is a very interesting topic for me because im currently trying to achieve level X4. I ask everyone on my social media to come to Seoclerks and sign up and i will give them free vouchers to my service. I just recently had someone sign up and they referred a friend so i gave them a free service of any kind up to $5. Now i have two new affiliates and my chances of making unique sales have gone up. I guess what i give is more than 20% but for me its worth it. The more people i bring to Seoclerks the more chances i have of getting to my next level. If anybody does marketing for affiliates let me know i would love to have my link blasted out to the masses beyond my already extended reach. I agree give a % away giving stuff away in return for new clients is a genius way to make money. Word of mouth is the #1 marketing tool. Thanks for sharing and i hope this helps.

Depends on who's doing the referring, if we are talking about a past client and somehow the new client mentioned that I was referred by someone else, no, I'm not going to contact that person and offer him a percentage, maybe a thank you, but that's about it.

I will only hand over a small percentage of my profit to people that actually contact me and negotiate such a deal with me, like "hey I'm going to promote you and stuff, you will get a lot of orders but I want a share of your profit" - sure this sounds like a partnership and should be treated accordingly.
