Where do you keep your online banking passwords?

OK so you don't really need to tell me exactly where you keep your online banking passwords, I am just interested to know where everyone keeps their really important login and password information.

I have started using Last Pass a while back and every time I log into my online banking I get a message asking if Last Pass can save my details. So I save everything in Last Pass.. except for my Paypal and internet banking details.

Those I store in the only place I feel is safe - my head. I have never even written those down on a piece of paper.

I'm just wonder what everyone else does? I used to keep a spreadsheet with all my social media accounts and other website logins in my Dropbox account and then someone told me that is not safe at all to do.

Now with the recent update from my bank telling me that hackers have gotten into loads of Dropbox accounts I can say that I am grateful. They wouldn't have gotten my online banking account details but they could have gotten my email logins which could have been devastating!

Well Lynne. You asked and I'll give you the answer for it. My passwords is hidden in my username. Or.. Perhaps my passwords ARE in fact my username?

No, but seriously. I don't keep them anywhere at all. Except in my brain. - Which is a total mess sometimes. Like one time. I tried to unlock my phone and used the pin code for my bank card. And I swear. I tried it a few times and I was certain that I was using the right password..

That happened when I tried to open my door too one time. We have an entrance code, and I tried the wrong code a few times, because I had another code in my head.. And that was a bit unfortunate, because the landlord came and wonder what the F I was doing..

Anyhow, I really should save my passwords somewhere, because I would definitely need it. I have like 13 different passwords in my head right now, along with phone numbers and entrance codes to my house and to my grandmother.. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. I forgot my social security number one time too! - I went to the doctor and they asked me for my social security number and I gave them my phone number instead.

That's so funny Andre, I can just picture you handing out your phone number as your social security number. Did they raise their eyebrows and give you the strange look treatment?

Yeah I love having all my passwords stored safely in Last Pass but I am just not sure I will ever be happy with my online banking login and password being saved there. Paypal and online banking stays in my head only. Oh and my bank pin codes and my mobile pin code too.

And I still didn't know what I was doing wrong.. LOL

Things are totally messed up sometimes and most of the times, I can't even remember my own phone number due to all the other numbers in my head. So I'm just thankful for the phonebook. That's the only way I'm able to call people. Years ago, I had all my friends phonenumbers in my head. Every single one of them.. But I just can't nowadays.

It's too many numbers to keep track off, as we have more and more security and more technology. Even kids have iPhone's nowadays. A few years back a kid wouldn't even want their own phones. And nowadays they need to have "the best of the best". It's weird and odd..

Same here, don't really need to write them down. My most important passwords like online bank account, PayPal, main Gmail, main social media accounts, all of those passwords are in my head and nobody knows them, not even my wife now that I think about it.

Everything else I usually have saved in a .txt file saved in a dropbox account but also copied in my external HDD and Google drive.
I have a lot of accounts, passwords and important files I need to keep safe, not very important but it would be a real pain to lose them. That is why I keep them in at least three places but never on my laptop's SSD.

Saving whatever passwords online is a risk,I have never tried that,I don't do same with my phone.A phone can get missing anytime and the details on your phones would all be used for whatever reason.I try to use passwords that I can easily remember and it as stayed that way over the years.

Yes, it seems like the best place to store those important passwords away from peering eyes and meddling hands is in the brain. It's an extraordinary place as there is always room and frequency and consistency will allow you to memorize anything, no matter how complex the password may be. I've experienced this first hand and I can use this special knowledge to generate as much passwords as I want and store them safely away in my head without hesitation.

Isn't it obvious? Where else to store something as sensitive and secretive as a password to one of mans' most treasured personal space, bank information? You'll need a tool to the likes of a sledge hammer to crack open mine.

I wonder if anyone thinks saving an online banking password on a browser is a good idea? It seems really risky to me especially if you're using a shared device or system in accessing your banking platform.

Rewind back to my first paragraph if you seek an advice on the safest place to store a password.

I save my password in the browsers and my brain. Since I lock my laptop, there is no chance of unauthorized access to my laptop. Thus, my passwords are safe from the people who want to break into my laptop. As far as hacking is concerned, I regularly change my passwords. In the past, I used to save my password in a text file and lock the file, however, I am no longer doing this.

I also have lots of passwords and I know that they should be different from each other. There is a word document that I use for noting down all those passwords. When there is a change, I would print since it is only 1 page and I will cut the excess portion so the sheet of paper can be folded neatly that will fit my purse. With that, I am confident that I will not forget my passwords although sometimes I make a mistake. Even if it is against the advice to have a printed list of your passwords, I don’t care as long as that list makes it convenient for me.

I don't keep my Online Banking Passwords online or in my PC or Smartphone. I keep a written copy in my wallet and a second copy on page 123 of a hardbound book on my bookshelf at home.

Like you I also memorized my passwords which if I ever forget a note in my computer would let me remember that there's a copy on my wallet and other places.
