Do you need to send out a status on Facebook that you really want to stand out? Facebook has added a brand new feature where you can change the background color of your status to make it more noticeable.

At this moment it is only available for Android users but everyone will be able to see the colorful statuses.

To add a color background while using your Android click on the box that says "what's on your mind" at the top of your feed and start typing in a status. Different color options will appear below the text, just click on the one you want.

Wow, that sounds pretty cool actually, but I guess everyone will be using it.. So I guess Facebook will look like a total rainbow. Perhaps they're joining forces to support the Pride festival or something?

I haven't tried this myself yet, and I won't be doing it anytime soon either, as I literally just can't stand Facebook.. - But even so, I think it's a pretty neat feature actually. And it's about time they do something like this.

Is this a feature that will be free and optional for everyone in the future, or will they use this feature to make even more cash, to let people pay a fee for "marketing" like this?

Andre as far as I can tell it is going to be free. I haven't used it myself as it is only for Android. I have an Android phone, but I don't use my phone for anything other than making calls, texting,whatsapp and Instagram.

Yes I wonder how effective it will truly be when everyone is using it? Then I don't think it will be standing out so much as it is now when people are only catching on to it.

I am not sure if I would like that feature because too many colors can be annoying. I think they are trying to make the News Feed more pleasant, and make users want to read more because of the different colors and it may make people want to read? I don't know what they are thinking. However, it's nice to apply color to your post, but I am sure some people will abuse this feature, and it will just create a colored mess on everyone's wall, and a lot of users will complain about it.

If the colors are not too bright, then I could deal with it, but if they are really dark colors, and there is many of them then no, i would use an addon to strip this from facebook posts, so annoying and redundant!

Everett that is exactly what I have been thinking. If one person has a color background for their status then that will stand out beautifully, but when every single person has a different color it may be like a total overload.

There is already such an information overload online and I wonder if this will make it even more overwhelming. It might become like walking into a casino with all the flashy lights, way too much for me!

I think that's why they introduced the color statuses, because of the information overload. I mean, do you really need 80 (average amount of facebook friends per user, i think) new statuses a day, plus game requests, plus group invites, plus tag activations, and whatever else there is?

The colored background may be pleasant at first, but I am totally sure people will get over it really quick. Also, why is facebook releasing idiotic features, like a colored backgound, and larger text for statuses. They need to focus more on core product than to add stupid UI html/css updates.. goodness where is facebook going!

I was not aware of it. So thank you for sharing this piece of news Lynne. I think it is a simple, yet a very good improvement as it is a way to make some posts more prominent, and there is the need for it actually. Unlike the usual white background, a different color for certain statuses which are more important than the usual posts, is a welcome addition if you want to reach out to the friends or followers more effectively.

This is amazingly perfect for those who loves to post everyday and everything that they do on the Facebook. It's a great and a beautiful thing to be made and to make your post more interesting and probably a good catch for the eye for your friends or others that would see your post. And I also love how Facebook would update all the things that needed an update for a more good looking and a more refreshing look for the site.
