6 things I noticed about videos in 2017

In today's world we can see a lot more videos being posted daily by stay at home moms/dads as well as fortune 500 companies.  This is due to the ease of getting a video online through smart phones usually, but what about the high quality videos?  Today there are billions of views on YouTube every month and it shows no sign of slowing down, and the corporate world understands this and is attacking the video movement head on.

Corporate videos on websites like YouTube and Vimeo are great for advertising and branding since they get in front of consumers and have a great ROI.  Some companies are even moving more towards video newsletters instead of building email lists.  At least with the video newsletter you can get people watching without deleting anything, and there's a huge SEO value to videos that stay up for a while  

As a full time online marketer I'm always looking for trends that I can get in early on, and if you're not making videos for yourself and your clients then you're simply falling behind.  The video marketing trend is coming like a wave of playlists that you can't avoid.

Some video trends that I've noticed recently

1. Video Overload (sort of)
   Videos are now one of the best ways to get information out there in front of the masses.  Millions of people get their news simply from seeing a news video on Facebook every morning, crazy right?  I also read that by 2020 roughly 80% of all internet traffic will be going or coming from videos.  That's an insane amount of traffic and I wonder if that's actually accurate lol
   
   
2. Owner Created Videos
   A lot of bigger companies are now setting up their own video creation departments instead of outsourcing the work to credible sources.  By doing this they can churn out a lot more video content and potentially get more traffic coming in for less cost which turns into a higher ROI.
   
   
3. There are a lot of bad videos
   It doesn't cost much to set up a video creation service and that means there are more people just interested in making money and not making a quality video for their clients.  Some of these videos I've seen are extremely bad and no one should have paid for them.  I've even paid $50 to $100 for a "good" video creation service only to get garbage in return. 
   
   
4. Good videos cost more
   To touch on my last point, there is a lot of garbage out there.  You will need to invest into your videos, or do them yourself, if you want them to come out good.  Paying less than $100 for a "good" video won't get you the outcome you had hoped for.  Hell, even a well designed whiteboard video for $20 is better than a custom $100 video from a private seller usually, and that's sad.
   
   
5. Think of VR
   When it comes to virtual reality, we're only scratching the surface right now.  What about in 5 or 10 years?  Will there be free VR devices loaded with YouTube ads from people posting videos to entice customers to purchase something?  It's a possibility and you'll want to start researching VR companies and what their business plans are in order to stay ahead of the game
   
   
6. Businesses have less time
   Have you ever worked with someone and they complain about the speed of your work?  It happens all the time because people are impatient and want what they paid for as soon as they pay for it lol.  When it comes to video creation, it can't be rushed or you won't get what you paid for.  This is the main reason businesses are setting up their own in house video creation service, like mentioned before.  A business owner would rather have someone on payroll doing the videos in house where they can be monitored rather than outsource it to a credible company

If you think you're ahead of the curve and you're only just now getting into posting videos for your business or clients, think again.  Corporations are churning out dozens of high quality videos every week and if you're trying to compete with them, you're going to have an extremely difficult time.  The above points that I touched on are only observations by myself, you may have seen some yourself and I'd like to hear what you think will be the future of video marketing and video creation if you don't mind



In Conclusion:
If you don't have the bank roll to hire a good video creator, I would suggest you learn how to make them yourself.  I'm sure you can find some good services out there to set up some great videos, but those services are few and far between and should be treated like a golden goose lol.
