When it comes to generating sales or subscriptions you likely are getting a few referrals here and there. If you aren't trying to get referral traffic, you're failing at a pretty specific type of marketing, and that is getting people who are happy with you to bring you business lol. When you're generating referral clients you're basically getting clients from people who are currently using you, who have previously used you, who are new to you or people who just want to make some money off of you (in a good way of course).
In this discussion I'll be going over the few ways you can get some good referrals that will most definitely help you scale up your business
Current Client List
When you think of referral clients, you will need to think of contacting your current list in order to get an immediate boost in contacts. You can simple send out a personalized email to each of your clients and offer them some sort of discount for each person they refer to you.
What I like to do is give my clients 25% off for each client they refer to me. Now they can refer 10 clients to me and get their services for free as well as get a nice commission check from me each month lol
I basically turn my client list into affiliates who actually start off by just trying to save themselves some money. After they get one or two referrals under their belt they realize they can start making money from this affiliate method and start boosting up their efforts to send in new clients
Email List
Your email list is a good way to capitalize on referral traffic. You can offer a discount to anyone in your list if they want to sign up with a specific discount code that will lock in their price as long as they are signed up. I've tested it and 35% is a golden number when it comes to getting sign ups at a discounted price. Some people will say 25% is a better number, but 35% is better than 25% and everyone's pushing 1/4 or the total sale, right? By offering 35% off, you will stand out from the crowd of discounted prices and pull in more clients
Now you can get new clients from your email list, but you can also turn them into affiliates just like how I mentioned in the previous point above. You can tell everyone that they can make XX% per sale for as long as someone is signed up and you will usually get a few people to help you out by posting on forums, blogs and social media for you with an affiliate link
PPC Campaigns
Not many people are doing this because it doesn't bring in a lot of traffic which converts into a sale. This is because you're running a PPC campaign on a platform like Facebook and targeting online marketers who might specialize in affiliate marketing. Show them some pricing structures that they can't refuse, like a recurring commission structure, and they will flock to you and send a lot of traffic in order to generate a decent passive income
Affiliate Programs
You can sign up for platforms that are specific to affiliate marketing. You will not be able to add any type of other affiliate marketing service besides theirs and they will advertise your services in their marketplace. You will get your information in front of thousands of affiliate marketers and they will either push your link to make a profit or contact you to see what exactly you will be offering.
A couple of these types of platforms are:
- ClickBank.com
- CommissionJunction.com (Now just CJ.com)
Basically you will put your listing in front of their affiliates and they will choose to promote you if they have the right audience and also if they like what you're offering in terms of commission. Each network will have different guidelines, so be sure to read up on them prior to signing up.
New Client Sign Up Bonus
This isn't actually a way to help get referrals, it's just a nice way to get more clients signed up
All you have to do is set up a page specifically for a PPC campaign and send traffic to it. Have your UTM links set up so that you can be sure where the sign ups are coming from. When you do this you can then offer new clients a percentage off their first month or lock them in at a discounted rate for a year, it's up to you
I've done this a few times when I had some extra slots I couldn't fill and it works pretty well
Sometimes I break even on the first month because a lot of my niches are pretty competitive in the PPC market, but it's worth it if I can get just 1 to stay signed up for 1 year
In Conclusion:
Your business will begin to flourish if you capitalize on referrals. You can give your clients some cash or a discount in exchange for bringing in new clients. You can capitalize on your email list and pull some affiliates through that in order to get them to market your services, which are always a good thing lol. It's not a tough thing to do because the happier people are with you, the more likely they will help you out. The hardest part about this is getting your first client, but that's why I added the "New Client Sign Up Bonus" section into this discussion. It's not just there for show lol
