Websites need a lot of advertising and marketing because it can sometimes be extremely difficult to gain users and views for it. But where can we advertise our websites? A lot of owners use social network pages to advertise their websites because they believe that because social networks have such large user bases, they can gain a lot more exposure by advertising/posting on there. But are there any other effective methods we can use to advertise our methods?

Are you talking about free promotion or paid promotion? I'm not that equipped with know-how when it comes to paid promotion, but I do have some knowledge when it comes to free promotion. Here are my ways to promote your website for free:

Use social media sites - create a Facebook page, maintain a twitter account, even be active in Instagram and Google+. These social media sites allow you to share your website links to the world. Use them well.

Stumbleupon - sign up with Stumbleupon, discover content of others, like, and also share some of your links. If what you share of interesting, the Stumbleupon community will upvote your content and you'll get thousands of views.

Reddit - a type of forum / social network site with a lot of active members who actually take the time to view the links that you share as long as they're funny, relevant or interesting. Your links can easily go viral in this site if you post interesting content in the appropriate subreddit.

Social media is also my best bet with it comes to marketing activities because it is the most fertile places in the internet in terms of users. As an example, you an create 5 accounts in Facebook and do your posting to acquire friendly connections. When you have done the acquisition of friends then you can have 5 networks of different members. That means you now have 5 venue for promoting your business interest.

Social network does a great job in website advertisment.But,
I will also recommend advertising your website with a ppc website,its getting popular nowadays and drives alot of traffic because of the benefit .I advice you use studads.com its is cheaper that Google AdSense and the rest.

I think Facebook Ads and Google Adwords both are good places to start with. And you can surely use them for advertising. I have found that even the forum advertising also works. You may also want to make use of the social media in that case. I have yet to get the most out of the app traffic though. I think you can use that as a way for your conversion.

Like you say social networks, but also some use Adwords and google advertising which can work well depends on the niche. Also, Facebook has their owned advertising try and post your links daily to Facebook and twitter, Reddit also use some form of social exchange sites where earning points and allow other members to share your content daily.

Join forums and have your links in the signature strips works well and performs as a backlink. Try social bookmarking sites like Digg and Diigo there are many more as well as them 2 sites.

Facebook ads and google will help a lot, but this is the era of social media. Facebook, twitter, instagram, everything like this is a huge help to make someone notice your website. I heard about forumcoin too, you could look into advertising with a fee. Reddit and subreddits will help you because there are a lot of people there and chances are someone is interested in your website.

I am not familiar with most of what you're talking about so thanks for the list. I am glad you mentioned Social Media Bookmarking. The only social bookmarking web service I've ever used was del.icio.us. I got tired of it. But it was probably me. Since you made the suggestion I went to look for more updated information about social bookmarking and found this recent article from a very reliable website. I have been looking for other ways to advertise.

I'm confused by your reaction/response. What is your objection to using automated tools? Don't most people these days automate their social sharing process? I don't just have one website or blog. I have several. Automation gives me an extra pair of hands.

Automated tools get banned quickly. Unless those tools make use of the API of the official developer section of the sites. It can be bad for the service to make use of the tools. I have found that most of the automated tools for backlinks are bad for the website. So make sure to use them in moderation. That way there are not many issues.

OK. Thank you for your response. It seems strange because they have various services that offer automation and show you how others are using it for their blog and on social media. But yet it's not good??? Why offer the services then? It's frustrating and confusing.

It is never good to automate backlinks tasks. Many sites like fiverr and seoclerk don't like such services either. Some are still offering it. But lot of automated tools are bad for your business. I think apart from social media post scheduling, I don't think there is any legit automation service. Most of them are into spam.

The easiest way is to advertise your sites are on social medias and this has definitely worked for many. It is also much cheaper. I personally use Facebook for advertising my products and this seems to be working for me. You can also try to advertise your sites in forums like the beermoneyforum or forumcoin.

Thanks for your query. Yes! I should agree with you most of all site owner or product owner going to advertise by social media targeting. Nowadays it is most popular to get targeted audience or visitors and most effective as well. Though there has contention how good or bad. But, I used several time and I got very good response. So, social network one of the best choose. You can also published your site on google adword. People also love to use google for better result. Though it is little bit costly rather than other. And I suggest to you can try to banner ad on many forum or high popularity site.

The key to successful advertising is to know where your target market hangout. If you advertise on a social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter but it is not tailored to your target audience you have little to show for.

I've been experimenting with facebook ads a bit as well. I had luck just posting links and updates on facebook too for a while. That was a bit hit and miss, but it got me some traffic, and it still does today. I am looking into Instagram to further my use of social media for self-promotion, but I will also check out some of these other ideas, such as Reddit and ForumCoin, maybe.

I haven't set up my Instagram yet and experimented with it, so I am not sure yet. I have heard a lot of skuttlebutt and talk in forums and elsewhere that Instagram is definitely helpful in promoting yourself, so I am going to try to finish my account there this week, if possible.

Nowadays, if you want traffic and a lot of views, your best option is using real money and invest on paid to post websites/forums. There are a lot of good ones out there and we all know a website that stands out to most of us because of the excellent performances of it's posters.

Don;t forget the possibility of advertising on Youtube as well. Youtube has millions of viewers world wide and it could be a great place to advertise your website. Make sure that you buy views initially if you have to, then hopefully people will get on board and continue to view your site.

But for me, I advertise my website everywhere online.
I use my social media account to advertise my websites like facebook,instagram, twitter,you-tube etc.

I also, have a mailing list to tell people about my sites, i also comment on forums and blogs then leave my websites link with my comment.

I prefer to use social media such as Facebook, Linkedin, Google+, Twitter for such purposes. It works especially well if you are already part of a social circle. Reddit is also good for advertising websites.

Up close and personal experience with my sister, use social media. She started using Facebook, then added Instagram, LinkedIn, Google +, Twitter, and she saw amazing results. She just follows people, then those ones, follow her back, and then is an endless chain. It takes sometime but eventually you will see it works.
