http or https traffic difference?

I have a question..
If i send traffic to a URL starting http://
will it be shown on stats for a website starting https:// ?
I ask because i sent traffic to a client website, then he says his stats show no increase in traffic. But stats are fro https://hissite.com and i sent traffic to http://hissite.com (example url)

Chrome is reducing the traffic being passed to the website that do not have the HTTPS. So that's another thing we have to consider. You can see that WordPress based blogs are gaining a lot of demand due to HTTPS implementation. I'd say that if you're looking for traffic then you should implement HTTPS. And also you have to be implement the responsive layout in your website. That's definitely something you should focus on as well.

I think that depends on what niche you're in and if you're a wordpress user or not. In my niche - many sites don't have https urls and they're doing just fine. I think most visitors don't worry about the https vs http thing unless the site is strictly an e-commerce business and they plan heavy credit card usage on the site. If it's just a blog or site to watch videos or read news, I doubt they're going to pass on it just because it lacks an https at the beginning of the url.

HTTPS are not niche dependent. Google chrome has issued policy for only allowing HTTPS websites to be safely treated. Your niche has nothing to do with that security warning. Though google may go light on the sites upto 2020. After that it may completely give big warning sign for such sites.

As overcast indicated, http is increasingly obsolete. It is not because of individual user choice, although you might be surprised how many people know about the benefits of the "s" these days. It is not even just Chrome privileging https results. A lot of different automated systems now favor https, including malware alerts, browsers and other search engines. Google has now also said they will uprank https sites. It is time to make the move.

Another thing is that HTTP2 is also coming. So they are forcing HTTPS now so that in near future moving to HTTP2 becomes easier. And we don't have to do anything for the same. Most of the people working in the networking are working on the standard and they may want people to move to the HTTPS soon for the migration.

If you're going to be making a new website you're going to want to make it https otherwise firefox is going to say it a secure website. ANd google is going to start doing the same thing in 2018. And another thing to consider most people do not feel safe unless the website is secure. They have been the way to may companies hacked and credit cards were stolen.

Http or https does not affect your traffic. That's becoming an internet myth. It might scare off some customers if you have an e-commerce site. Some customers only buy from a secured site. Even if you are paypal verified and have high marks from user reviews. But unless your site has been flagged by google as a malware hotbed and it shows up next to your url in google search - your traffic won't increase or decrease regardless.

I don't think HTTP is about traffic stat or affect any traffic problem as I read, HTTP or Https is about if a site is secured or not.With HTTP, it means a site is not secured and users might be skeptical about using it while https means the site is secured and as a secured connection.I think the problem in your own case is about the tracking software used.

The traffic difference is so wide. Using https for a website attracts lots of traffic as it tells google and other search engines that visitors are safe to visit, enter personal bio-data or biometric profile information.

Google does things to protect customers first and does everything in their interest only. Google believes that publishers are much more meticulous about the money they want to make and wouldn't ever want to do things to protect the customers' interest.

It sounds like https is defintely the best way to go, as you may get users to shy away from your site using only the http, but it is up to you as to which you use. I think the more secure you can make your site, the more comfortable people are going to feel using it.

Yes it is being enforced by Chrome and Firefox. And soon most of the blogs and websites will have it. So it's going to be tricky from here onwards. That's for sure if you are having a blog. It's necessary to switch to HTTPS soon enough.

From what I know it really shouldn't affect the actual traffic but perhaps the tracking for it shows on two different web addresses? I don't know what tracking/statistical tool you are using but on my own blog, I have two separate reports that appear automatically - one is for HTTP and one for HTTPS - it is still one domain though.

So, perhaps he has it shown separately as well? Ask him.

Take a site like espn.com for example. The global leader in sports and sports programming. Their worldwide Alexa rank is 77. Their alexa rank in America is 14. It's a site that doesn't sell anything really except access to some exclusive content and articles. Their site is not using an HTTPS moniker at the beginning of their url - and it hasn't hurt them a bit. So I think this debate is still just that - and will remain so in the future.

i think he is a scammer, he buys traffic then cliams he didnt get it. if you ask him to use goo.gl or other tracking link he says he will track himself and that he wants to use direct URL.

Am not a systems expert so correct me if am wrong but http:// or https:// has little or nothing to do with driving a certain traffic to a site.

When a visited site shows http:// on the search bar it probably means that the site isn't certified as secure by the search engine. Same in an opposite meaning goes for https:// which translates that the site is secured. The green padluck is also a sign showing that the site is secured. This is the little i can explain about the meaning and difference of http:// and https://.

You should Google it and do a little research on it to have a better understanding of what it entails.

If you are redirecting from http to https then all traffic will come https and you can see that from Google analytics or webmaster tool if you setup it.

If you are allowing both versions https and http then you can see the difference traffic on http and https.

Answer:
In both browsers I use - Chrome and Firefox - if a website URL is http and it is not configured for https, it will show a WARNING saying the site is not secure. That stops traffic because many times when I've seen that message I did not bother to visit the site. I just left. So it surely has an effect on traffic and there can't possibly be a record of traffic if folks react like me because they never go to the site,

If you were the one who sent the traffic to the site that was not counted then I guess there might be a problem with the traffic counter. I cannot elaborate on this because I know that there is a variety of counters that the counter may not have recognized the incoming traffic from a particular source. Pardon me if I am guessing because I suspect that https is not generally accepted yet.
