We all know that ads on Facebook can be an amazing thing if you do them right, but you could totally screw this up and waste a lot of money if you're not careful. So, to be careful you will need to add plenty of great content to your website or blog before you do any sort of Facebook advertising. You need to do this because you will want people to read everything you have on your website and then sign up or purchase something. If you don't have plenty of content ready for them to engage with, why would they stick around and love everything about your website?
Facebook does have some competition in terms of fighting for the best position for advertising, but you can still build up your audience on a shoe string budget if you're strategic about it. Of course, you'll need to only invest what you're willing to lose, but that's a common thing when it comes to advertising. If you only have $100 to your name, you're not going to want to advertise at $10 a day for 30 days lol. If you're smart, you'll run it at $1 a day and figure out what you can get your CPC down to, then you'll boost it up slightly and bootstrap everything that comes in, but that's a topic for a different discussion
In this discussion I'll be going over why quality content and Facebook ads are a win win, so lets get to it
Write 10 to 15 long articles that is high quality
What you'll need to do, before you even think of setting up an ad on Facebook, is write up a minimum of 10 great articles that you know people will engage with. I'm not talking about 10 articles that are 500 words long and have dozens of images plastered wherever you could get them in. I'm talking about well formatted articles about your industry that are 2,000+ words long.
You'll want longer articles because they take longer to read, obviously, but that's not the only reason you want them to be longer. Statistics have shown that longer articles have a better chance at topping the search results on all the major search engines compared to anything that was simply thrown together and doesn't break the 500 word mark. Another benefit from having longer content is that people will likely find something in your article that they can relate to, which increases the chances of them signing up for your newsletter or even buying something through your website or an affiliate link.
Set up some monetization on your site
After you have all your content written up and published, you'll need to figure out what you want to do in order to profit from all of this work.
Here are a few of the ways you can monetize your website and content:
- You can add in some strips of adsense code and get paid per click
- You can add in similar code from BuySellAds and get advertisers to pay you in monthly installments
- You can add in affiliate links and get paid whenever your traffic clicks through and makes a purchase
- You can sell your own products or services and have a higher profit margin than the rest
Monetizing your website isn't a difficult thing to do, you're basically setting up your pages to increase the chances of making money with your traffic, but you need to figure out which method of making money you like best
Get some initial engagement on your articles
After you write your articles and get all your monetization set up, you'll need to get the ball rolling and get some initial engagement on them. Some of you are saying "Why would I need to do this if I'm going to be paying for traffic from Facebook and get engagement that way?" and the reason is you don't want your paid traffic to land on an article and no one has liked, commented, or shared. People want to be sure that others like what they are reading before they themselves do any sort of engagement. It's like most people are followers but they don't even know it, so be sure to break the wall down and let them in to engage with you by getting your own initial engagement.
The engagement you get on your new articles doesn't even have to be genuine, you can start the engagement yourself and even get some friends and family to come in and comment, like, and share your amazing content

Sure, it's not the most ethical thing to do, but it will show the paid traffic that others are liking, commenting, and sharing your content so it's alright for them to do as well
Set up a PPC ad for each article
After you do all of the above tasks, you can NOW set up your PPC campaign on Facebook. You'll want to get super targeted and this means your not going to get as much traffic as you would like. You will however be setting up an ad for each blog post and targeting the same people every time. If you're already getting super targeted with your ads, you know that people will love what you're writing, and they will continue to come in and engage with you
You won't be setting up an ad for each article right away, instead you'll set one up each week and build your audience gradually.
Respond to ALL engagement
This is a big one, you need to respond to everyone that comments on your ad and your content because it will spur even more engagement. If you're only responding to people you want to talk with, people will take notice and they will begin to avoid your ads and content all together because you're being selective. You will also need to respond to anyone that is being negative, all while being professional and putting out any fire you possibly can.
In Conclusion
Facebook ads aimed at amazing content is a win win because you will build up your own community on Facebook through likes on your business page. You will also build up your email list from people subscribing and wanting to know more about your industry. Basically, you're creating your own community within your industry and turning yourself into an authority over time. If people see you as an authority, they will share and refer plenty of traffic to you, which is an amazing thing
