I am planning to raise my rate for the next project. Will I be violating a rule if I edit my Gig rate after I get 5 star ratings?

No, you can edit every aspect of your Gig from the Price to the Tags.

You can edit and change your entire service listing. Titles, descriptions, images and tags. Even the category can be changed at any time you want. In case you've made a sale and have an order in progress, the buyer won't be affected no matter the changes to the service. Increasing the price or changing the whole service description will not affect the buyer as they've bought the service before changes were made so the previous agreements still apply.

What if somebody has already ordered the gig and it's in progress... do they pay the fee that was displayed when they first ordered it? (if that makes any sense...)

@light, that i think is a valid question. but if you as a seller is in good faith, you wouldn't charge that buyer for the new value.

I have edited it before. Someone bought my gig and then I changed it. It will not effect what they pay you because the price is locked in once they buy it.
